Michael sustains EG’s vision and strategic direction, maintaining a strong engagement with our projects.

He has extensive experience in infrastructure, funds management and development, and is currently the currently Chairman of ASFA, and the ACT City Renewal Authority, as well as Executive Director of Ridley & Co and President of the Australia Defence Association. He was a founding director of both Macquarie Infrastructure Group and Macquarie Goodman. His past directorships include Icon Water, ActewAGL, ANZ Stadium, ING RE, Ministerial Advisory Council on Skilled Migration (MACSM), State Super, NRMA Insurance, State Rail Authority of NSW and Sydney Metro Transport.

Michael was an Adjunct Professor at the Australian Graduate School of Management’s Centre for Corporate Change and previously Vice President of the Australian Council of Trade Unions and Secretary of the NSW Labor Council.

Michael graduated with a BA with first class honours in politics from the University of NSW, a MSc with distinction in sustainable urban development from Campion Hall at the University of Oxford, a PhD in history from the Australian Defence Force Academy and a PhD in urban planning from the University of Melbourne. He has also completed courses in management and finance at the Harvard and Stanford Business Schools.

Michael is a Member of the Order of Australia, a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
